The Chicago Greektown Educational Foundation (CGEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Greek language learning and educational initiatives. The CGEF provides financial assistance to Greek school programs throughout the Chicagoland area. The funds we grant are primarily used for the purchase of educational technology, Greek language textbooks and classroom supplies.
ln 2016, the CGEF provided financial assistance to six different Greek schools. Our goal this year is to expand that effort to assist at least eight programs and we are allocating additional funds for this purpose. To fulfill this mission, the CGEF will consider all requests for financial assistance submitted in writing by June 30, 2017. All grant recipients will be required to submit receipts and a description of how the items were utilized. The length and complexity of this will vary depending upon the type of purchases. Within your proposal, please be sure to provide the following information:
- A brief description of the program and its objectives, including the number of students enrolled, days and times instruction is offered, whether students are separated by grade level or speaking ability level, and the number of educators involved in your program
- List the items you wish to purchase and their estimated cost. Please include an overview of the way in which each will be used to enhance and/or sustain education in your program.
To submit a proposal or if you have any questions regarding the application process, email: info@greektowneducation.com. Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Board of Directors by mid-July.
We choose to support Greek education because we know the importance of preserving and promoting the Greek language and our cultural heritage. It is our strong belief that together, we can ensure that our children are empowered by having access to programs that support education and community. We appreciate your important contributions to this cause.
